Welcome to our Language College
The Alderman White Language College has been offering languages-classes for the wider community for over 20 years. Originally designated a specialist Language College in 2002, Alderman White School is now one of the few surviving Language Colleges in the East Midlands offering a very extensive community programme to leaners of all ages. There are adult language classes on weekday evenings as well as classes for families on Saturday. Courses can also be attended by students from other schools – this is of particular significance where the student’s own school is unable to offer tuition in a particular language. We are proud of the fact that our Language College has enabled learners in our wider community including students who are home-educated to take GCSEs and A-Levels in a wide range of languages.
Currently we are offering classes to adult and younger learners in the following languages:
· Arabic
· Chinese/Mandarin.
· French.
· German.
· Italian.
· Japanese.
· Spanish.
· Russian.
Our classes are reasonably priced to make them as accessible as possible. We ask for half-termly payments (approximately 6 weeks) avoiding the need for costly down-payments. Please see our programme for up-to-date information regarding all the courses on offer and the relevant fees.
Nottingham Chinese School
In addition to all of the above, Alderman White School is the home of the Nottingham Chinese School on Saturday afternoons. Over 300 students of all ages attend the school to learn Mandarin Chinese up to GCSE and A-Level. Although an entity in its own right, the school works closely with the Alderman White Language College and the Confucius Institute at the University of Nottingham with all partners benefitting from the mutual support and collaboration. The school has become a community hub for the Chinese community in and around Nottingham with a range of cultural activities on offer from Chinese Art and Chinese Dance to Martial Arts. Cultural events are held throughout the year
