The aim of our Geography curriculum is to:
- encourage students to be global citizens who have an appreciation of sustainability and diversity.
- become geographers who have a strong understanding of place on a variety of scales ranging from the local to international.
- have a good understanding of both human and physical geography.
By the end of Key Stage 3 (Year 7-9) students should:
- Know how geographical processes shape landscapes.
- Know how population and settlement patterns change and vary depending on their location.
- Be able to evaluate social, economic and environmental effects.
- Be prepared to create reasoned conclusions.
By the end of Key Stage 4 (Year 10-11) students who take Geography as a specialism should:
- Know about climate change, poverty, deprivation, global shifts in economic power and the challenge of sustainable resource use.
- Know about exploring case studies in the United Kingdom (UK), higher income countries (HICs), newly emerging economies (NEEs) and lower income countries (LICs).
- Be able to understand their role in society, by considering different viewpoints, values and attitudes.
